ITM Conference & Buyer Achievement Awards 2018

The ITM Conference is the highlight of the business travel calendar for buyers and suppliers in the UK and Ireland.

The Rachel Ley Consultancy has been retained to produce the annual two-day conference and gala awards ceremony since 2015.

In 2018, the ITM Conference was held at the MacDonald Aviemore Resort in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.

The programme centred on the theme ‘Changing the Game’ and featured a keynote from former England rugby international, Matt Dawson.

Presentations, workshops and panel discussions covered topics including the upcoming GDPR legislation, future-facing technologies, safety and security, plus the evolution of travel management.  On the first evening, delegates enjoyed an evening of ‘band-e-oke’.

For the ITM Buyer Achievement Awards on the final evening, RLC was asked to come up with an original entertainment concept. It had to be relevant to the overall ‘Changing the Game’ theme, and engage all 400+ guests, while raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

We produced a bespoke Game Show format, wrote a core script, and recruited Vernon Kay to host the evening.

The event consisted of a charity auction, which raised over £20,000, five awards, dinner and the Game Show entertainment, all compered by Vernon Kay.

Our unique Game Show entertainment format used original takes on popular TV programmes from the past to produce a game show mash-up that was so entertaining, it completely surpassed the client’s expectations and saw Vernon Kay ask to extend the evening by a further hour because everyone was having too much fun (we said yes!).

Highlights included an original take on The Price is Right, Family Fortunes, and the Generation Game. The latter saw audience members carrying objects across the stage to replicate the conveyor belt game and all 400 guests on 40 tables competing to see who could create the best balloon model of an aeroplane.

What we say:

“By producing event concepts that rely more on attendee participation than costly off-the-shelf entertainment, our clients are able to tap into our endless creativity and save themselves some money in the process.”

What our client says:

“The Institute of Travel Management has been working with Rachel and the amazing RLC team for many years now on our annual Conference. They really understand the objectives and feelings we try to achieve each year. Our event continues to grow in terms of delegate satisfaction and commercial success and Rachel’s creativity and vision mean we never run short of inspiration to re-invent and take the Conference to new heights each year. Our close partnership means that RLC’s people feel like an integral part of our team and we are even able to enjoy taking part in the spectacle of our own event!”
