ITM 2016

Business travel buyers and suppliers come together to learn, share and network at the Institute of Travel Management (formerly the Institute of Travel & Meetings) annual conference. To serve what is a highly competitive industry, the conference needs to find new, engaging ways to present itself and its content, to maximum return on investment for delegates and the ITM alike.

Having organised the 2015 conference, producing a 5% increase in delegate attendance to 350 delegates, RLC were asked to produce the ITM’s 2016 event.

Celtic Manor, Newport provided a suitably imposing setting for the 2016 event, which also marked the Institute’s 60th anniversary. In honour of the occasion, seven former ITM chairmen were to deliver the opening keynote speech, which was followed by the launch of the new ITM logo and brand. The opening evening included a set by a free-style rap artist, and a band made up of ITM board members!

For the formal content, whole-audience discussions were hosted using the World Café format, with breakouts following. The second evening’s highlight was the Buyer Achievement Awards, after which the evening’s entertainment featured yet more ITM talent based on a Strictly theme. Six ITM couples battled it out, with the audience voting via the conference app: the event raised £5,000 for Compassion UK. The event closed on day three with a keynote presentation from Karren Brady.

For 2016 attendance growth was even more impressive: up 21% to over 400 delegates. Satisfaction ratings were up too, with 96% of delegates pledging to attend the conference in 2017.
